Before Yale: Played in Alberta Junior Hockey League... Scored six goals and had 21 assists for 27 points in 49 games... Played for Spruce Grove of Rural Alberta Midget Hockey League for two seasons and was 2005-06 league all-star... Led Midget AAA defensemen with 63 points and had a league-high 55 assists... Attended Onoway High School... Earned numerous academic honors... Alexander Rutherford Scholarship for academic success... Dwight Peel Memorial (in memory of his brother) Scholarship for leadership and student involvement.
